This mountain wreathe, for which there are some announcements that it will be proclaimed for the National Park, is one of the less visited wreathes, but at the same time on of the most intriguing parts of Montenegro. This massif because of its poor transience today is a challenge for all those who wish to try out themselves in mountaineering, but what is more important, for all those who are interested in the botanic diversity of this area. Cetinje

Cetinje – is a real pearl of Montenegrin culture and history. For a complete pleasure and true meeting of Montenegro you would have to dedicate several days to this town. Monuments of culture, museums, religious objects, and the very roadside area make Cetinje a start point when we are talking about the understanding of people and the state. All Montenegrin rulers have reined Montenegro from here, so the greatest number of state and cultural institutions has made this town a real small European capital of past centuries. Especially interesting will appear the architecture – next to the traditional Montenegrin house made of stone, you can find a baroque edifice of some European consulate. With its beauty stands out Cetinje monastery, which preserves some of the greatest Christian relics – such as the hand of St. Jovan the baptizer. Monastery treasury is enriched by the gifts of other civilizations to Montenegrin rulers, among which there are some which come from Arabia. The castle of King Nikola will give you a picture of life of Montenegrin dynasty Petrovic in the XIX century, Njegos’s Pool Hall will reveal to you that the pool was played here long before anywhere else on the Balkans, and Cetinje folk library today preserves precious manuscripts on which much bigger and richer countries could envy Montenegro. The feeling of history is complemented by the view of Lovcen on whose peak is the mausoleum, in which Petar II Petrovic Njegos, the greatest Montenegrin poet and ruler, is buried. Kolasin and Bjelasica

On about 1.000 meters of height above the sea level lays one of the best Montenegrin air ports – Kolasin. A town which is greatly connected by railway and bus transport with Podgorica and the north of Montenegro, today is in the center of attention of the Montenegrin tourist public. Grandiose hotel “Bianca” and a few smaller villas, on one, and private accommodation on the other side, are an excellent invitation to stay in Kolasin and visit some landscapes, ski centers, mountain cozy nooks or the shore of river Tara. Alpine climate and the best ski paths in Montenegro, important place in Montenegrin history starting from the XVII century, and recognizable hospitality, together, make Kolasin a place which you have to visit. The remains of the Turkish fortress and of the town are preserved even today, and numerous monuments and museum will bring you back in some long gone times. If one takes into consideration that Kolasin is several kilometers away from Biogradska gora and area of Bjelasica, with mountain lakes, and rich hunting places, than its tourist significance is clear. From this town very quickly you will come on the slopes of the mountain which is characteristic for lakes which are located on the heights of over 1.700 meters above the sea level, and the view from the peak of Bjelasica (around 2.110 m) takes your breathe away. more ...

Zabljak

A town with the biggest height above the sea level in Montenegro, a famous tourist center today is called a capital of Montenegrin mountain tourism. Situated in the heart of Durmitor area, Zabljak, by everyone’s recognition, is one of the most attractive Balkan winter places. Archeological localities, which are dominated by tombstones, can be found next to the Riblje jezero (FISH LAKE), and it is thought that they originate from the early XIII century. The remains of the medieval town Pirlitor from the XIV century, which was in good business relations with Dubrovnik, testify about the lurking position which Zabljak had in some other era. Not far from Zabljak you will find the roman bridge on Bukovica, towards Savnik, and of somewhat more modern historical monuments there is the famous Tito’s cave, in which the future statesmen spend some time during the liberation fight. All of this testifies that beside the exquisite ski paths, which are filled with guests from all over Europe every year, you can pleasantly spend your time meeting people, history, and customs of this area. Zabljak is specific by the fact that when in some alpine countries they lack snow – it becomes the first and the only destination for all those who wish to spend their vacation on a white cover – because on Zabljak snow is there every year! more ...
